Primary care provides integrated, accessible healthcare services by primary care physicians and their healthcare teams.

Our team is accountable for addressing most personal health care needs, developing a sustained partnership with patients, and practicing in the context of family and community.

Primary care involves your primary healthcare provider. You see them for acute illnesses, injuries, screenings, or to coordinate care among specialists. Secondary care is the care of a specialist. These specialists may include oncologists, cardiologists, and endocrinologists.

Primary care physicians help you manage your health by providing routine physicals, immunizations, preventive care, and wellness screenings.

PCPs also diagnose common illnesses and chronic conditions like diabetes, obesity, and hypertension (high blood pressure), which they help you manage.

Several types of doctors will identify as primary care physicians – Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or General Practice.

Some doctors focus on children called Pediatricians, who will serve as the primary care physician for your child.

The Importance of Having a Primary Care Doctor. Primary care providers manage day-to-day health needs. A long-term relationship with a PCP keeps you healthier and lowers medical costs.

A PCP can teach you how to stay healthy, treat you when you’re sick and help you get more advanced care when needed.
